31 Model A Pinstripes

My Saturday was spent pinstriping this '31 Model A Roadster restoration project. The man you see in the bottom picture is Robert Todd, a recently retired member of BYU's mechanical engineering program. He's been working on this particular Model A for a couple of years, after finishing a '28 a couple of years before that. He didn't know any pinstripers this time around (Ed Roth pinstriped his '28. Tough act to follow.), so he got in touch with Bob Barrett, one of my professors from the illustration department, who sent out the call for someone with striping experience. It was a fun job, but a lot tougher than I had expected. I'm a little out of practice doing stripes on cars, and I'd never done restoration pinstriping before, only custom designs off the cuff. I mixed up some oneShot to match the factory "Tacoma Cream" color and got to work. It took a lot longer than I had planned, but I believe both myself and Mr. Todd (and Ang, who came along to moderate my work) were happy with the end result. The whole thing made me want to do more striping though, so track down your old MC helmets and surfboards (or Model A's) and give me a call!

Day 17- Jack Torrance

Day 17 is from one of, in my opinion, the most terrifying moments in horror cinema. This comes, of course, from Jack Nicholson's character Jack Torrance in the Shining. Go watch the movie if you haven't, and get as scared as I did!

Day 10

Today was Peter Cushing. I wanted to do the colors in the same way that they might have been done had there been a Peter Cushing beach towel in the 70's.

Day 4

Here's day four. The full color version is what made it to Facebook. Prints of any of these can be had, just get in touch with me. My Wolfman action figure served as the model for the zombie.

Scherzhaftes Bild

I originally wrote a lengthy description for this post explaining just how much I detest hitler, but I don't think that begs any elaboration. Everybody but total dicks know hitler as a total dick. For those of us who don't sprech Deutsch, you are probably familiar with hitler's great manifesto on whininess and zealous bigotry, Mein Kampf. Kampf, as many know, is the German noun for "struggle", or "fight". With the simple addition of an "r", however, we get "Krampf", German for "cramp". Looks like 'ole Onkel Adi shouldn't have gone swimming so soon after eating that big bowl of dumb.

Day 3 of the Halloween thing I'm doing on Facebook

So, I wasn't really planning on doing a horror drawing every day in October until I posted the Headless Horseman sketch on the first and my brother asked if I was. I don't really want to create pages of blog posts based on 31 days of single drawings, especially since I won't have time every day to pound out a lot beyond quick monster doodles. That being said, if I do something especially cool or fun, I'll put it up here. In this case, I did a quick color version of the Karloff drawing above, so I thought I'd post it. Check my Facebook page for drawings every day, or keep yer eyes on the Pad for the greatest hits. Keep creepin!
