The scene shop was closed this week, so I spent that time painting these babies. All three are for sale, so if you want one, better nab it before someone else does! The flake on them will knock the eyeballs right outta your head! I'll be putting these 3, as well as the other 2 I've done recently on KSL and eBay soon, I'll post an update when that happens. If you're interested in getting one for yourself, you don't have to wait for that. Just get in touch with me by whatever means you have. Just in time for riding season!

Spooky Lithographs for Sale!
Also, for anyone who didn't see it on FB, I recently made these weirdo 2-color lithographs, based on an iconic image from Kenneth Anger's "Scorpio Rising". The loud yellow green is custom mixed, and all 8 prints are hand prepped and pressed, as well as signed and individually numbered. I've only got a few left, so get 'em before there's nothing left! $20 a pop, plus shipping (unless you're local). Get in touch with me if you want one!
Sunday Sign #Sorry- Comix Work!
Sorry, everyone: it's been a crazy busy week(end), which meant the Sunday Sign for this week had to be sacrificed on the altar of der Hauptmann von Köpenick. I've been cranking like crazy trying to get this comic and the Pulp Zine (like I keep saying, more on that soon) done by early Summer, so other things are having to take a bit of a back seat at the moment. Keep stopping by for updates on the comic and zine, as well as new Sunday Signs!

BFA Moto-Madness!
This is just a TASTE of the wild stuff that I'm working on for my BFA final show! Keep yer eyes peeled for more updates!
Sunday Sign #23- Sketch Book Drop Shadow
Time's a little short this week, so here's the first half of what will be a drop shadow label on my current sketchbook.

Sunday Sign #22- Husky Bell Helmet
Tonight's sign isn't much of a sign: it's only got one letter. I've had this old Bell dirt bike helmet kicking around for awhile, and I decided a week or two ago that I wanted to paint the Husqvarna logo on the back of it. Once that was done, I realized I haven't done any pin striping in some time, so I pulled a few goofy lines on it. It's for sale, so get in touch with me if you want it.

Sunday Sign #21- The Fokker
I spent yesterday afternoon at Creer Sheet metal lettering Ed's radical '57 Bug rod. He loves the old WWI Fokker fighter planes, so wanted that to be the motif for the bug. I unfortunately don't have any full body pics of the bug, or it's killer custom fabbed bomber seats, but it's all definitely a sight to behold. I also gave him the plate for the bike, which looked great installed.

Sunday Sign #20- Derby Helmet!
This was a really fun project, done for my friend Caitlin's roller derby helmet. I should have some better pics later this week. Her clever derby name is "Velocity Rapture", and her number 75, since Velociraptors lived 75 million years ago.

Coming Soon! New Comic Project
I made these character design drawings into little promos for the comic project I'm working on right now, der Hauptmann von Köpenick. The comic tells the true story of Wilhelm Voigt, an unemployed ex-con in turn of the century Prussia who got creative in deciding to pull a heist. I've been wanting to do a comic about this story for several years now, and I'm stoked that I'm finally getting to make it happen. The art should be done early this Spring, with copies available for purchase hopefully shortly after that. Keep an eye on the blog ( or follow my tumblr: http://dangersartpad.tumblr.com) for updates and additional sneak peaks! (I'll also be posting soon to introduce POISON: Pulp Zine, another cool illustrated project I'm working on that you can get your hands on late Spring/Summer 2014. Stay tuned!)

Sunday Sign #19- Creer Sheet Metal
This week's sign was super fun. Ed Creer at Creer Sheet Metal asked me to do this for him, as well as some lettering on his '57 VW Bug (which I'll post when I do it in a week or two). This metal plate is off of a Schwinn Cycle Truck that he restored and wanted the company name on, as well as it's original phone number (the "FR" stands for "Franklin"). I'll get some pictures of it posted when it's actually on the bike, but here's the finished lettering.

Sunday Sign #18- Puck
Tonight's comes from Shakespeare and Kenneth Anger. Pretty fast and sloppy, just practicing strokes.

Sunday Sign #16- Grandpa
This was another gift, this one for my mother. While I'm sure my late maternal grandfather wasn't the first to use this phrase as a personal mantra, it's his use of it that matters in my family. The color scheme was inspired by his career as a mechanic for John Deere. This photo comes from the sign's current home, my mother's sewing room.

Sickle shop, Preview of things to come...
I did this piece for my environments class as prep for a Zine project to come. This particular environment is a preliminary treatment of the setting in a story written by my good friend and DV brother Nate Perkins. The Zine will also feature a story from another good pal and DV brother, Charlie Wildey. I'll post updates throughout the next few months, culminating in a show/release party in the spring. Stay tuned!
Sunday Sign #15- Sister's Wedding
My wonderful sister Heather got married this week, so I painted this sign for her and her new husband Darren. It was fun to do the sort of interlocking curved text, and especially challenging in that I have been trying to do everything without the aid of masking tape for my top and bottom lines recently. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, and they were too. Congrats, Heather and Darren!

Cramps Fantasy Sleeve
This is the final for my digital illustration class. The prompt was simply to create an illustration that came from a piece of music, be it a loose interpretation or album art. I chose to do album art (specifically, a fantasy sleeve design for a 7" single), and after several other sketches, chose to go with the Cramps' cover of Dwight Pullen's rockabilly classic, "Sunglasses After Dark". In the middle image, you see my initial Cintiq color sketch, with the final product above it and the black and white line art below. The color and "Sunglasses After Dark" lettering were done in photoshop (lettering on a Cintiq is the worst thing in the world) I've got prints of this one for sale (7"x7", $5!), so get yours in before Christmas has come and gone!
Sunday Sign # 14- Hank Williams
This week's sign features lyrics from a brilliant Hank Williams song, and was fun to paint. I wanted to try out a little more free form script, and I'm happy with how it came out. Stop by next week for more Sunday Sign fun!

Sunday Sign #13- Don't Bug Me!
I'd had this old metal flake panel kicking around for years, which I painted as a test panel for my cb125 forever ago. I always meant to letter something on it, so I finally did! Seen here with the stabilo lines still on it!

Sunday Sign #12- Helmet for Pops
This week's Sunday Sign comes from Boise. I lettered this on the back of my Dad's MC helmet while visiting up there for Thanksgiving. My buddy Kim brought over this terrifying Santa Claus Mask from the 40's, so I thought I'd model it for the sign photo. Merry Creepsmas!
